The Tools Palette

Tools and keymap for S20

The Brush Tool

S20 BrushToolIcon.png Keyboard Shortcut:  W 

The Brush Tool is used for painting the landscape. It can:-

  • adjust the height of the terrain
  • add ground textures
  • add Effect Layers
  • add Scrapbook scenes

When selected, the Brush Tool will show two drop down menu lists.

Brush Tools
The first drop down menu will set the type of brush effect. The choices are:-
  • Ground Height
  • Ground Texture
  • Scrapbook Data
  • Edit Effect Layers

Ground Height

When this option is selected, the second drop down box will display a selection of Ground Height tools. The choices are:-
  • Height Up
  • Height Down
  • Set Height
  • Grade

The Ground Height Tool selection will determine which of the standard Brush controls will be available for use in the Tools Options Palette. If this palette is not shown then refer to the Notes at the top of this document.

 Height Up/Height Down 
Up/Down brush controls
 Set Height 
Up/Down brush controls
 Grade 
Up/Down brush controls

 Radius  the brush radius (metres)
 Height  the brush height (metres)
-3000m to 3000m
 Sensitivity  0% = very low
100% = extreme
 Grade  slope

0% = flat, same as Plateau in Classic
100% = very steep (but not vertical)

 Angle  slope direction (degrees)
0° = North, 180° = South
Brush controls that are available for each selected tool are shown with a  Gold  coloured icon next to their names.

The Placement Tool

The Placement Tool is used to add assets to the landscape.

The Eyedropper Tool

The Eyedropper Tool is used to identify (and select) objects that are in the landscape. The objects can be textures, effect layers, scenery and splines.

The Free Move Tool

The Free Move Tool is used to move objects in the landscape.

The Fine Adjustment Tool

S20 FineAdjustmentToolIcon.png Keyboard Shortcut:  D 

The Fine Adjustment Tool is used to make fine adjustments (XYZ axis, rotation, tilt) to objects in the landscape.

The Marquee Tool

S20 MarqueeToolIcon.png Keyboard Shortcut:  F 

The Marquee Tool is used to select areas of the landscape.
