+ | School runs, services specifically for getting school students to and from their schools, were a regular occurrence in the division. School buses usually did not exist or the roads were in such poor condition that bus travel was not practical. Sometimes separate following trains were run for the boys and for the girls or they were segregated into separate carriages. This was in an era where gender specific schools and/or classes were much more common than they are today. But it was not always possible to co-ordinate the train services with the school times so some students would have to leave school halfway through the day to ensure that they could catch the only service back home each afternoon. | ||
