SAR Northern (Peterborough) Narrow Gauge Division

Category: Route and Session
Trainz: TRS19 SP3
Released: May 2021

Peterborough South Australian Railways - This narrow gauge (3ft 6in - 1067mm) layout is modelled on the Port Pirie to Broken Hill line and covers:-
  • the Gladstone to Paratoo section (127km - 79mi) of the main line
  • the complete Wilmington Branch Line (88km - 54.5mi)
  • the complete Terowie Branch Line (23km - 14mi)
  • the complete Peterborough to Quorn cross country line (137km - 85mi) to the Commonwealth Railways Port Augusta to Hawker Line.

The division is shown as it existed in the mid to late 1960s just before the conversion of the Port Pirie to Broken Hill line to standard gauge and the eventual closure of the branch lines.

A "base" session containing prepositioned rolling stock and initial settings for industries, etc has been created. A set of 15 detailed driving scenarios with a full set of track and switching diagrams and a tutorial are also be available here on the Trainz Wiki.

Total route length 375km (233 mi). It is an expansion and an upgrade of the original TS2006 DLS route.

An overview is available on this Wiki at WikiLink.PNG SAR Northern Division.
Details and a discussion of this DLS route and its session can be found in the Trainz Freeware Announcements forum at WikiLink.PNG SAR Peterborough Narrow Gauge Division
This route is now undergoing an expansion with the Hawker Line and a section of the Pichi Richi Railway being added and corrections to the terrain on the Peterborough-Quorn branch being implemented, plus other upgrades. Version 2.0 is planned to be released "sometime(TM)" in 2022, 2023), 2024 - the task is proving more complex than I thought.
