Trainz: A New Era Service Packs

Since release, Trainz: A New Era saw 4 major updates (Service Packs), along with several hotfixes. These are listed below. Note that TANE Service Pack 4 can only be installed using the online installer (or the patch installer in Trainz), it does not have an offline installer available.


TANE SP1

For existing customers with build 79000 or lower, we recommend you upgrade to TANE SP1 by installing the full version available for download from your MyTrainz.com account. You can then import your content from your existing build into the new build if you wish.

TANE SP1 install warning

For TANE Builds 79000 and lower When patching to SP1 from build 79000 or below, TANE requires TWO restarts before being used.

Please follow these instructions: Patch to SP1 Launch TANE (Do not Start Trainz) Wait for engine startup (Do not Start Trainz) Allow database build to complete (Do not Start Trainz) Close TANE completely Restart TANE and now click Start Trainz :)

You can use either the same installer as the TANE SP1 online installer, or the included patch installer in Trainz: A New Era SP1.

For existing customers with build 79000 or lower, we recommend you upgrade to TANE SP2 by installing the full version available for download from your MyTrainz.com account. You can then import your content from your existing build into the new build if you wish.

Online Patching (Retail Versions)

To update to the latest version, simply start Trainz, ensure that online mode is enabled (if available), and the patch available prompt should appear automatically. The patch to SP4 is a small download (under 100MB) and takes a few minutes.

If the prompt does not appear, from the launcher, click Trainz Settings > Install > Change Stream and ensure that Public Stream is enabled.

On PC, if you still are not able to patch, we recommend that you run the Patch Installer.exe from your install folder.

On Mac, to find your installer, right click and "Show package contents" then Contents > Resources to find your Patch Installer.app.
