By the 1960s the '''Gladstone-Wilmington Line''' was in decline. Freight services largely ran on demand. Passenger services mostly consisted of a passenger car attached to a freight service, but from 1969 all passenger services were permanently cancelled.
+
The 1964 Working Timetable for the Wilmington Line contained only two regular freight services through to '''Wilmington''', running on Mondays and Fridays only. An additional service to '''Wilmington''' ran only "if required". On Wednesdays there was a freight service to '''Booleroo Centre''', with two additional services available "if required".
The line had no staffing and no signals. Normally only one train was given authority to use the line at any time.
+
The line had no signals beyond '''Gladstone Yard'''. Train order working was in operation on the line.
From 1970 until its eventual closure in 1990 it operated as an isolated narrow gauge line connected to a standard gauge main line.
+
The 1982 working timetable consisted of a single freight service to '''Wilmington''' each week (on Fridays). The line was closed in 1990 and the track has since been removed.

An additional service to Wilmington ran only "if required". On Wednesdays there was a freight service to Booleroo Centre, with two additional services available "if required".

The line had no signals beyond Gladstone Yard. Train order working was in operation on the line.

The 1982 working timetable consisted of a single freight service to Wilmington each week (on Fridays). The line was closed in 1990 and the track has since been removed.
