The pages listed in this category are special Formatting Templates, work-around templates which perform a particularly useful repeated function across one or more Wikimedia namespaces including (but not limited to) external links to other urls {{Wp|pagename}}, {{Meta|pagename}}, {{Mw|pagename}}, {{Com||pagename}}, which externally link to Wikipedia, Meta-Wiki, Mediawiki, Mediawiki Commons, and Wikibooks pages in the absence of interwiki links. • Some of these are necessary to work around parsing foibles in wiki-markup, particularly in wiki-tables. • Templates such as this give a crisp professional look to the project, and include a built-in pretty-text format as their second argument, aiding text composition.
