The information in this Wiki Page applies to TANE, TRS19 and Trainz Plus. This guide will show you how to move a Picklist from one installation of trainz to another, on the same or different computers. The first 7 steps are identical to those in the document "How to Backup a Picklist TEXT.txt". Open CM and Your Picklists ========================== 1. From the Trainz Launcher a. select Manage Content b. in Content Manager open the Content menu c. select Edit Picklist This will display all your current Picklists. If you are using a Default picklist there is NO way to select it for moving. 2. Select the Picklist to be moved a. right mouse click on the required Picklist b. select Open Picklist from the popup menu This will open the Picklist. 3. Select Picklist Contents a. left mouse click on any one of the items b. press Ctrl-A to Select All the items 4. Transfer List to a New Window a. right mouse click on any one of the items b. select List Assets in New Window from the popup menu 5. Copy Assets in Picklist a. click inside the Asset KUID box and press Ctrl-A to select them all b. copy the asset list to the clipboard (press Ctrl-C) IF you are transfering the list to A DIFFERENT COMPUTER, then follow steps 6, 7 and 8, otherwise skip to step 9 6. Open Notepad or Any Other Suitable Text Editor a. open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc) b. click inside the Notepad window and then press Ctrl-V (paste) 7. Save the Picklist as a Text (.txt) File a. from the Notepad File menu select Save or press Ctrl-S. If you are not using Notepad, make sure that the file format is text (.txt) for compatibility b. select a suitable storage location for the file c. enter a filename - the same name as the Picklist would be a good idea - then save d. copy the file to your second computer 8. Open the list in your second computer a. on the second computer, open your favourite text editor (MS Notepad, Notepad++, etc) b. load the saved text file, from Step 7 above, into Notepad c. select all the text - press Ctrl-A d. copy the text to the clipboard - press Ctrl-C Open CM in the Destination Trainz ================================= 9. Create a New Filter a. in the copy of Trainz where the Picklist is being transferred, open Content Manager b. start a new filter c. paste (Ctrl-V) the asset list into the Asset KUID box d. delete from the filter the line "Installed" - this will ensure that any Picklist assets that are on the DLS but not installed on your system will be identified e. if any assets are identified as "Available for download" (i.e. they are not installed) then download and install them first 10. Create a New Picklist a. select an entry and then select all (Ctrl-A) b. right mouse click on any entry and select Add to Picklist and then New Picklist from the popup menus 11.
