The file meshfilename is provided in LM format, however the high-detail mesh is comprised of less than 300 polygons. This may have a negative impact on performance.

For example:

! VE85: The file 'lenses/redlens.lm' is provided in LM format, however the high-detail mesh is comprised of less than 300 polygons. This may have a negative impact on performance.

The message is advisory and needs to be considered in conjunction with a number of other features of the asset and how it is likely to be used in-game.

meshfilename is a LM-format mesh file. This form of mesh file is used to enable simplified meshes to be dislayed as the viewing distance increases, thereby reducing the processing cost of assets that do not need to display high levels of detail at greater viewing distances. However, in this case the highest detail mesh has less than 300 polygons, so the processing cost involved in changing the displayed mesh likely does not match the savings available from being able to use the simpler mesh.

Assets that use a LM-format mesh file cannot be stitched, which eliminates an important potential saving in processing cost. This applies to non-animated scenery, for example. See: ["Mesh stitching].

In the above example the polygon counts for the four meshes in the LM mesh were 142, 46, 14 and 2, so the asset appears to be a good candidate for replacing the LM mesh with an IM mesh.
